Living History

The Living History Program of the National Museum of the Pacific War is dedicated to bringing the stories of the Pacific War to life! Through our programs, like Pacific Valor, Campaign Briefings, and The Outposts, the living history actors of Company K offer guests a truly unique opportunity to experience and interact with stories and artifacts of the Pacific War.

Pacific Valor

Pacific Valor, our flagship living history program, engages with real life examples of valor on the battlefields of the Pacific. Each program focuses on a specific individual who was later recognized for their conduct above and beyond the call of duty. Join us for one of our four Saturday programs as we explore the sacrifice and bravery of America's Greatest Generation!

These ticked programs are held at the Pacific Combat Zone and include an exclusive guidebook that offers visitors a chance to learn more about the equipment and stories portrayed in the program. The actions on the battlefield, when coupled with the text of the Medal of Honor Citations and other biographical information in the program guide, will leave the audience with a profound educational experience!

These performances are not for the faint of heart as they include blank firing weapons, explosives, and a demonstration of our M2-2 flamethrower!

The Outposts

On selected Saturdays from March to November, Outpost programs are held at the museum. Each FREE Outpost program offers an up-close-and-personal opportunity for visitors to interact with and even handle real artifacts from the Pacific War!

Campaign Briefings

Campaign Briefings aim to examine the key questions that underpinned the great battles of the Pacific War. "Why were we there?", "What happened during the battle?", and "What was the aftermath?". These programs offer an excellent opportunity to learn about the profound tactical decisions that directed the campaign while also granting the audience an chance feel the heat of battle!

During the program, the living history volunteers of Company K will engage in a battle presentation including simulated explosives, blank firing guns, and a real M2-2 flamethrower.

Campaign Briefings are open to the public with admission by donation. No ticket is required, and seating is first come first serve.

It is most definitely a tribute to those brave men and women who not only fought in the Pacific but worked and sacrificed in order to give the military the equipment and supplies to win the war.

Company K

The Living History Program wouldn't be possible without the support of the 100+ volunteers of Company K. Individuals participating in our programs come from all walks of life and contribute in varying ways! Volunteers can find themselves leading troops into battle, firing the flamethrower, issuing uniforms, preparing meals, maintaining weapons, or even conducting research for a show. The choice is yours!
